Top 10 bathroom renovation tips
Confused about which tiles to use for your bathroom or what sanitary ware to pick from the multiple choices that we have today? Our Designbird team recently designed a bathroom which was stylish and well under budget. In this post we are sharing with you how you can get the same look using local and easily available materials and sanitary ware.
1. Tile files
We love the Nicolas tile collection by Kajaria which is available in light, medium and dark grey in two different sizes. These textured tiles will add the rustic charm to your space yet giving it a modern look. You can use the light grey on the floor, medium grey on the walls and the dark grey behind your shower panel to add that extra depth.
2. Over the top
Bored of the same marble and granite marble counter top? We have experimented here with textured tile (available at Kajaria) in a big size and placed the wash basin on top if it and it works just as well as the old school marble or granite.
3. Colour scheme
This light and dark grey colour scheme with white sanitaryware gives the illusion of more space in the tiniest bathroom. You can add accent colours if you wish by introducing vibrant accessories, bath towels, floor mats etc. We would recommend the beautifully designed umbra accessories which are subtle and minimal in their look.
Who says that the bathroom walls dont have art works. Choose a wall that is away from the shower area and hang you art work there, we have chosen one from letternote for you – Stay curious!
5. Green life
Monstera is one plant that is found in almost all households in India. Bring in some green with this beautiful leaf that will instantly give life to your space.
6. Space savers
If possible, always use a wall hanging vanity and toilet seat, makes it much easier to clean the floor and saves space.
7. Less is more
Lesser the number of products on your counter, the more stylish your bathroom will look. Try keeping only the basics out and tuck away the rest in your storage cabinet.
8. Hide and seek
For some reason, we love keeping the ugly wipers in our shower area. Avoid doing that by incorporating a covered tall wall unit with a mesh base so that you can hide the wiper there after use and the water can drain out from the bottom.
If space provides, install a small shaving mirror on the wall which comes in handy while shaving and doing your make up. Also make sure to have enough lighting at that spot to avoid goof ups!
10. The basics
We have used basic hardware and sanitary ware from various brands like jaguar, Hindware, Cera,Umbra and Parryware. Some of these are available online on Pepperfry, Snapdeal and Amazon. The links to these products can be found below.
